In this guide, I’ll show you how to connect to a Wi-Fi network on your computer.
Connecting to a Wi-Fi Network
- In the lower right-hand corner of your screen, click on the Network & Audio Controls.
- In the top left-hand corner, ensure that Wi-Fi is enabled.
- Click on the arrow to view available Wi-Fi networks.
- Select your Wi-Fi network from the list and click Connect.
- Enter the Wi-Fi password and click Next.
- If the connection is successful, you will see “Connected, Secured.”
Once connected, test the connection by opening a web browser.
Disconnecting from a Wi-Fi Network
- To disconnect, click the Disconnect button.
- If you don’t want your computer to remember this network, toggle off the Connect Automatically option.
Troubleshooting Connection Issues
If you’re having trouble connecting or receive an error message, try reinstalling the Windows Wi-Fi driver.
Reinstalling the Wi-Fi Driver
- Open Device Manager from the Start menu.
- Click on Network Adapters to display a list of your computer’s network devices.
- Right-click your Wi-Fi device and select Uninstall Device.
- Click Uninstall, then restart your computer.
After rebooting, Windows will automatically reinstall the Wi-Fi driver, which should resolve most connectivity issues.
